Bristol’s own Venture Studio

Excited to share that Gravitywell (a company I have recently started advising) recently announced it's new rebrand and seized the opportunity to call itself Bristol's 'Venture Studio'.

Venture studios have become in vogue in the US over the last few years (High Alpha, Betaworks and Science, Inc are just some notable examples), but what does the team at Gravitywell mean by using that label to define its offering?

Gravitywell’s new logo.

”Well, to us, its reflects some key attributes in the way we work with clients over multiple phases,” explains Tom Foster, Head of Commercial at Gravitywell.

“This includes:

  • Entrepreneurial specialism - starting a business is a unique process, which requires comfort with risk and a highly consultative approach.

  • Adaptability - linked to the above, we don't offer off-the-shelf products - each approach is geared to the strategy that best serves your goals.

  • Ecosystem - we listen to our network of specialist collaborators and the ecosystem each product has to establish itself within to facilitate progress.

  • High care, low volume - we pride ourselves on optimising and innovating each idea we work on; we'll forensically find the value and the best way of expressing it with tech.”

Whilst all of this is true, I think that the most exciting thing is that using the ‘venture studio’ description has given the team permission to sum up and express the value that they've been delivering for years...

Gravitywell has been delivering considerable value to founders and to the startup ecosystem for many years, but I am convinced that this rebrand and their confident use of the ‘venture studio’ tag will see that value go through the roof. Exciting times ahead.
